Would it not be better to land the fish, unhook, Pic's then weigh the fish, as it only needs to go in the sling once and then is released?

good stuff.

Never seen a pec get caught in the net, do you mean the spines on the dorsal fin?

it's a good idea to run your hand over the pecs before lifting the fish out though, makes sure they aren't bent the wrong way.

Nice one Ian. Keep up the good work. I pick up something every time.

I hope the novice and the experienced carper reads things like this. It never hurts to have a refresher.
