more positive bites????

when fishing the pole my bites are slow,where my float goes down very slowly!
im using a roach float with a number 8 above the hook length and 4 number 8s about 3ft above that.
as anybody any ideas how to make the bites more positive?
or any good combinations for weights.ie where to put them down your line?

you have your four no8's together.try spreading them out a bit.this works for me.plus go somewhere where there are some fish big enough to pull the foat under and be patient.DON'T MOAN ALL THE TIME!!!!!

Robert, what do you mean by positive?

To me, a nice slow bite that allows you time to strike is exactly what I want.

Robert, are u sure u are not just overdepth and that the float is being dragged under by wind/flow?
