Fishing for carp last night with mixer, I caught a bream and a tench. The water wasn't that shallow either. Anyone else had any surprise catches like this?

I used to target surface feeding tench in a tiny shallow pond in Whipps Cross, East London. Usually at night, using floating crust under the rod tip.

I remember fishing as a kiddie in Essex when I got all caught up. As i was untangling the mess around the rod tip, a Roach of about a pound snapped up the maggot that was merrily being danggled on the surface about 2 feet out.

Fishing from a boat for pike, i have twice had Pike hit baits that were hung over the side as i up anchored to move spots. One of the baits was not even in the water but about 6 inches above it.

I once took a Cod on an air injected ragworm ment for pollock. It was about 3 pound and took it clean off the surface.

I once caught a carp by design using a mixer...now that was a shock :)
