Used to fish all the time until illness. Not been for about 12/13 years and want to get back into it. Looking for recommendations of where to go. Used to fish Ulley long time ago but it died right off and the problems with dam so just got out of the habit. Approaching retirement so looking to restart again.

There are a few places not to far from you but you will be pestered by carp

Aston springs and Aston waters fishery’s but its 90% carp

Kiveton waters and Kiveton farm again a lot of carp

If you like Roach, Rudd, Crucians, Tench, Chub, Bream give Barlow country club ago Its Probably 25 minuets from you it has good parking near the swims, toilets and caff and a bait and tackle shop opening soon

Have a look at the Ravenfield ponds website, good value for money as it includes the Kilnhurst and District book. Great surroundings and secure.

This gives 5 ponds at Ravenfield, plus a stretch of the Don, large canal stretch at Kilnhurst/ Swinton and Bakers pond. About 55 quid a year for single rod
