Open waters - foot and mouth

Farmoor II reservoir, near Oxford, opened for boat fishing only from Tuesday March 27. No bank fishing will be allowed and the adjoining Farmoor I reservoir will remain closed. There is no access to the reservoir complex for walkers or birdwatchers. There are 14 boats available and Thames Water says the reservoir has been well stocked. Farmoor Fly Fishing Club is also opening its Darlow Water fishery, near Stanton Harcourt, Oxfordshire, from Sunday April 1. Members only, no day tickets. Membership inquiries to the secretary Wally Ward on 01993 881503.

In my area, Ladybower is open for boat anglers only. Horseshoe Lake, Press Manor and Lakeside Ranskill are open. On the plus side both Ranskill, Press Manor and Horseshoe have banned sight bobs and egg flies. Hip Hip Hurray!!
