Will anyone be fishign the Dearne this winter? I'm targeting my first Barbel.

I can catch small barbel no bigger than 1/2 pound, but the daddys aren't playing.

What tactics will be using? I'm sticking with trotting bread, worm or meat. I could really do with getting out to pr-bait some swims, if I get time.

I'll keep ya posted if I have any success.

Interseting that you're catching small barbel Nick, good sign for the future.
I'm not sure weather bread will be overly productive, will definatley catch you
chub though.
I caught a dearne barbel trotting worm last week, although due to the nature of
dearne barbel swims (they generally live in and around the snags) I find ledgering
with strong tackle a favourable aproach.
