well had a go today on the dee, decided to fish long rod( 17ft) and pin
with a 3 grm trio drennan pole float, ( much finner tip than a bolo)
anyway ended up with 10 chub 6 dace and roach and a 1lb grayling.
as I only had 50 yds of line on the pin I decided to try
after a long run through, to see what it would be like to run the pin with the line comeing from the top of the pin rather than as usual the bottom.
well I found out you could cast out(wallis) a bit further , but boy was it strange playing a fish in backwards so to speak.
anyway a good learning day, I try never to waste a day,
theres always somethink new to learn. :)

Well - I was always told it was impossible to Wallis cast with the line coming off the top. Nice to hear another piece of received wisdom is wrong! I was also told it was impossible to Wallis cast with Line-guard fitted - that's also wrong. Maybe it impacts on the distance though? Any pin experts care to enlighten us?

fished the dee today and boy was it hard
got beaten by a cormarant 2 to him, only 1 roach to me
they sure are a nasty looking bird, got a real close up look ,
cos, clapping and shouting didnt scare it off, casting over it did though.
seems there getting use to people, and only a direct action scares them off.
