Wellingborough Nene used to have a stretch of the Nene that was by a Slaughter house... Think it was called Shettles... Was Very good for Chub... Ledgered Lobs... Hard to avoid the eels mind you....

The stretch mentioned by Bird's Nest is at Ditchford and the 'slaughter house' is Chettles and reprocesses feathers and other animal products for what purpose I don't know! What I do know is the smell from there can be horrendous and can be smelled for miles around especially in the summer, this should no longer be a problem because it closing down (it may be already) because of new restrictions in the wake of BSE etc.
Vince because the response isn't what you hoped for I think your best bet would be to visit some of the tackle shops in the area and ask there or maybe get contact numbers for local clubs and speak to them
