If you need pliers that can open very small split rings this is the way to go.
When opening split rings, the tip needs to be able to fit into the ring so the wedge on the other tip can open it. The issue with a lot of multi functional pliers is that the tip is too broad to fit into very small split rings. These pliers are unusual in that they are obviously made by cutting flat sheets of 3mm(ish) stainless. So they are narrow throughout. Unusual among fishing pliers and unless you want to open small split rings I'd go for something with a broader gripping jaw section. But if you need multi functional pliers that will open small split rings, these are really good. Perfect pliers for ultra light lure fishing.
