Although Silstar rods were budget rods in their day the quality was generally very good. I have a 12' match which is 20 years old and it's still very nice to use.
All I can say is give it a try...

I had several silstar rods many moons ago and they where excellent rods. That was back in the 80's but I have no idea what their later rods are like.

As mentioned earlier sometime back I've got 4 Silstar match rods that I've got for me trotting, I've got :

3 Silstar Traverse X 14 ft and also a Silstar Ian Heaps match team 14 ft,

I'm a but of a fanatic on eighties match and quiver tip rods and have to say that these are very good rods and a lot of the Silstar range are definitely worth purchasing
