No delicate pillars to get crushed; I agree that the thought of trying to play a big fish on a lightweight reel held together by century-old ebonite is blood-curdling! Does anyone actually do that - pay around a grand for a cobweb of wire and ancient plastic, then use it for anything bigger than roach?
Is the Classic Angling world full of stories of exploding Coxons, or should I have more faith in early polymer technology?
