Thanks, The Indifferent Crucian, I must have taken my eye off the ball somewhat. Are Windexes stll under-appreciated and cheap? They're certainly rugged!

I have seen the odd Windex fail to sell on eBay...whereas others have sold for £40 or more. Luck of the draw, I suppose?

Probably worth a punt, then.
No delicate pillars to get crushed; I agree that the thought of trying to play a big fish on a lightweight reel held together by century-old ebonite is blood-curdling! Does anyone actually do that - pay around a grand for a cobweb of wire and ancient plastic, then use it for anything bigger than roach?

Is the Classic Angling world full of stories of exploding Coxons, or should I have more faith in early polymer technology?

I'm looking for a speedia wide drum deluxe. Must be in good mechanical condition. I live in Oxford. Will gladly travel up to 50 miles to view. Many thaks Mark.

Did you ever get your wide drum.
If NOT mine now has to go to fund other projects.
