Barbel Society Sutton on Trent Fishery

Open Weekend

The Barbel Society will be running an open weekend on the BS fishery at Sutton on the weekend of the 16th/17th of August organised by Adrian Kiddell.
Fishing will be from Friday evening through until Sunday afternoon.

Anglers will be able to fish all or part of that time. Tides for the weekend are spot on with a tide late morning and before midnight both days.

Adrian would like to call a halt to fishing for a couple of hours during Saturday afternoon for a social for a couple of hours, during which we could hold a fishery question and answer session.

Itis also plannedto run a raffle, again subject to numbers.

Non BS members will be able to attend for a fee of £10 for each day (max. Fee £20), but must be accompanied by a BS member.

If any FM members are interested and have no Barbel Society mates, please register below and we will see what can be done.

Thanks Geoff.

There will be plenty of regular tidal Trent anglers there for advice on methods etc.

For further clarification:The Barbel Society Open Weekend, Sutton-on-Trent Fishery, has been arranged with the intention to promote the fishery, to the members who do not know it, the Barbel Society ethics with regard to barbel fishing, handling code etc. and to encourage members with non-member friends & acquaintances to introduce them to the Society.Due to the fact that our fishery leases do not allow non Barbel Society members access to the waters, we have adopted the "bring-a-friend" idea and to effect this we shall issue temporary membership for their period of attendance to any who register an intention/wish to come along. The pricing of the event, at £10/day for non-members, to a maximum of £20 for the 3 days, covers the temporary membership & fishing permit, very reasonable in my opinion. Most of the Society waters have coded-lock controlled access gates, with the lock codes only issued to fishery permit holders, to prohibit unauthorised "guesting". It is also for this reason we are not holding a "come-as-you-will event", in order to control presence of registered persons.During the weekend, there will be many members of the Society& committee, for BS members and non-members to meet and form their own opinions of, regardless of the many adverse opinions of these people which have been portrayed by others. It is therefore an open weekend, but not a free-for-all, therein lies the difference.
