Tench rods

Hi all
Have any of you used these rods or fish with them if so what make and what do you think of them. Any info would be great as i am thinking of getting one.

the drennan tench float is what you call the pup's plums,does as exactly as it says on the label.ideal for carp,chub,barbel too.the john wilson avon/quiver is not bad either.i shopped around and picked a pair up for a hundred quid from west midland angling centre(wmac.com)

"Tench"rods can be anything from a float rod to a 2lb+tc carp rod.....what type of tench fishing are you contemplating?......if i had to be nailed down to one rod though i would go for a 12ft Harrison in about a 11/2 test, i would be happy to float fish and throw out a decent sized feeder with them.

My local like that i fish is quiet snaggy and the weed can be a problem. The tench run to 9lb and there are carp to 30lb so this needs to be taken into account. I have look at the browning tench rod 1.5lb test curve would this be any good.

Stephen, that was good advise from Paul, the Harrison rods in either 1.10 or 1.12 are perfect for big Tench. They are also good for ledgering at distance for Roach, Bream etc. This rod is an all round fishermans delight.

If you ever hook up a 30 plus Carp on one, you might be a bit underguned, but I bet it would make a good thread!!!!!

Thanks for all the advice, I'm going to find a retailer that sells one of these rods and purchase one.

Might be a bit late Stephen, but i have moved over the to Fox Barbel Rod this season. Brilliant rod, does everything i need for tench/barbel/bream etc....the range comes in i think three flavours, all 12ft twin tip rods....one is 1lb test (Avon)
and two Barbel versions, 1 1/2 test and 1 3/4 test...i cant praise these rods enough. ?100 each. I replaced a pair of Stradic Specialist with them ( ?300 each!!!), and they out perform them in every area.

Yep...i can vouch for them too,friends use the barbel rods and i use the 1lb jobby..... i don't think the 1lb test is up too some modern tench methods but it's a great chub/roach type rod.

I've just had a browse on "Tacklemart" here on FM.....if you don't mind buying second hand ( i don't mind at all!) then Paul Garner is flogging a couple of rods that might just be perfect.

They are Very nice rods from what I remember... I've been wanting a pair for a while myself... and only spent the cash on a different pair of rods 2 weeks ago... damn..

Paul emailed me and he sold them on saturday
so its back to the drawing board. By the way has any tried or got the browning tench or babel rod if so whats it like.

Haven't tried the brownings, but I can recommend the Giant ouse barbel, either the 1.25lb, or 1.5lb. These are very nice barbel rods, and will cope with all styles of tenching.
Look at John Wilsons heritage range too..

I have seen the john wilson heritage 1.75lb rod on special offer for ?69. I am thinking of getting one of these. As I have seen alot of people on hear say their quiet good.
