Has anyone got any advice upon good stretches of the River Trent for barbel.

I am particularly interested in the Nottingham area.

Advice on the best tactics would also be appreciated!!

I haven't fished the Trent for a long time but I can tell you that one of the Trent regulars I know, bait flavour guru Archie Braddock, uses flavoured dead maggots. A big bunch on a 6's hook. He also feeds dead maggots with hemp and groats with a swimfeeder. He catches a lot of good fish, so you could do worse.
