A friend tipped me off about these exquisitely made German fly reels and I already own one for 3/4 wt lines. Here's my latest , a Christmas present from my wife. It's for 5/6 wt lines and will be used for larger river fly fishing and also for imitative fishing (dry fly and nymph ) for biggish rainbows . It's pure indulgence, as all one needs from a fly reel is storage capacity for the line and a check that doesn't jam when a big fish is taking line. But 'want' is just as important as 'need' .
A note of warning . My reel was bought direct from Germany , as the last one was without tariff or delay. Thanks to bloody you know what , this took a month to arrive and attracted a 50 quid surcharge from HM Customs, or whatever we call them now , on a reel costing about £150 . Taking back control eh ?
Here it is - lovely thing .
