We are pleased to announce we have available a limited number of the stunning VR Salar Incomparable fly reels as part of our TT Classic+ collection. These are very special reels, designed and developed in Ukraine by Vladimir Rachenko, ex-Hardy designer/developer, aerospace engineer, passionate fly fisherman and CEO of VR Reels. We are always excited when Vladimir completes more of his masterpiece reels. With the constant threat of the Ukraine war and materials shortages it’s never easy but with determination he always gets the job done. As his only UK agent, we are fortunate to have a preferential supply direct from Vlad.
We have only six of these stunning reels available from a worldwide collection of 100. These are in stock in the UK ready for immediate despatch. The Salar is built in the traditional style. It will bring back memories of the iconic Hardy Cascapedia, Vom Hofe Restigouche and Bogdan reels with the serpent crank handles. The Salar is a true Classic Raised Pillar reel design, a one-piece spool with an integrated axle. The reels are manufactured in Korea, with the side plates and spool made from aerospace grade bar stock aluminium. Two of the highest quality Japanese stainless steel ball bearings ensure a smooth running reel, even under extreme conditions and fast running fish. All are built with a 12-position drag adjuster to the backplate. An asymmetrical Pawl system provides a much lower resistance when retrieving a line, and the engraved texture palming rim adds increased sensitivity. These reels are size 4/0 measuring 3 5/8” in diameter, not including the raised pillars and 30mm inside the drum faces. A 61mm foot blade ensures these reels fit virtually every reel seat on the market today. The reel can be changed from left to right-hand wind.
Every reel comes with a neoprene Salar protective pouch, exploded parts diagram, plus servicing tips card to ensure a long trouble-free life. A lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects for the original owner gives you peace of mind and the assurance of the best quality build. The reel, case, and documents come in the maker’s outer card box. We have six reels only, four in a clear silver finish and two in black, all numbered and sold on a first come, first served basis. The numbers in stock are; 33 and 101 in black, 14,29, 58, and 63 in clear silver. As they sell, we will remove those numbers from the listing.
We have been and will continue working closely with Vladimir Rachenko, the owner of VR reels. He has over 20 years’ experience in designing and hand crafting stunning fly reels, combining his long experience as a former aerospace engineer with a passion for fly fishing.
