What hooks for bream?

What hooks do you use for bream when fishing maggot,caster or worm,I like drennan carbon chub,but I'm slowly running out of certain sizes and I'm looking for an alternative...

In my experience any hook will do, they are not fussy!

Drennan super specialist 16s, 14s for smallish bream up to 4lb. 12s 10s for fish above that, doubles, and crammed with as many maggots I can get on them. If you hit a tench or a carp , which I try to shake off, DSS's will land them. In fact they're strong enough to tow a battle ship into dry dock.

In recant years I've become a big fan of Korum expert power , like a lot of modern hooks they are not sized "normally" as they seem maybe two sizes bigger than stamped on the packet, a 16 may look like a 12 .
They are wide gaped too which makes them ideal for big baits such as lumps of flake, lobs, or multiple maggots.
Remarkably sharp also, they are now my go too hook for big Bream . For smaller fish - say below ten pounds and providing there are no snags in the water then the Drennan wide gape specialists are spot on.

B711 for me .... fish a 17 or 15 for the proper lumps at Sharnbrook Alan .... worm & maggot ... swingtip rises up and then the rod starts going round :wh

What a sad endictment to angling,I can understand being disappointed at not catching your target species,but,to vehemently hate a species is sad,let's be fair many species don't fight a lot,or are too small to,several are slimy,I don't want to hook chub or bream particularly when I'm specifically after barbel,but I don't hate them,in fact the way my barbel fishing is these days,looking back after a days fishing,that bream or chub actually makes you realise your alive,ahhh a bite.

Blunt ones (the blunter the better) are best in my view as I don’t have to unhook the slimey fight-less things :wh

Or at the very least a hook which is large enough to prevent the smaller snotties from getting the hook caught in their mouths. :wh

Someone else mentioned the Super Specialists which are my favorite hooks. I dont know if they are the best hook for Bream but they certainly catch them.

Anyway the point I want to make is that the Drennan Specimen hooks are basically the same pattern as the Super Specialists but in a lighter gauge wire. I would be more tempted to use them if I was specifically after Slabs.

Alan, I use kamasan animals and B911s for pretty much all of my "general" coarse fishing and find that they do everything I want a hook to do.

The only time I step away from this is for barbel/ big carp (upper-doubles+) when I tend to favour ESP Raptors for a bit of extra strength.

The animals in particular have a great blend of being strong without being too heavy. A jack of all trades. I'm happy waggler fishing with 18s thru to 14s and feeder fishing with any size up to a 10. Whilst I've never really targeted them exclusively, I do catch dozens of bream through the year as it's hard to fish the thames around Oxford and avoid them (as I think you probably know...). I've never felt let down by them in any way, so will definitely continue to use them.

Bream are not fussy and those I caught this week put up a fight and the hybrid thought it was a carp.
