My last rod was a Drennan Super Specialist Duo, 12ft, 1.5lb tc (which I've got a buyer lined up for) and I'm awaiting the arrival of 2 x Free Spirit Specialist Advanced, 12ft, 1.75lb. Beautiful rods. Can't wait til they arrive!
A diawa Proteus 13ft power float rod , for trotting mainly...very pleased with it,ive only caught chub upto nearly 4lb on running water and carp upto 10lb on still water but i think it could handle average sized barbel...fingers crossedi`ll find out soon anyway!
Drennan Red 10ft "carp" feeder. Lovely rod..ideal for shorter range feeder fishing for roach and bream on some of my club waters. Trying not to buy any more "major" items (I have what I need)
Me too, but the 11ft version. Quite a powerful, through-action rod on which I'm tackling the local barbel (unsuccessfully so far, I might add) Amazing value for £50.
the last rod i bought was a preston inovations 17ft excel float rod, it is superb and a pleasure to use! I like it so much I am going to buy the 13 and 14ft models and one of the feeders...HIGHLY RECOMENDED!!
I bought an ABU float rod for £32. The rings were too big and the line kept getting caught round them. So annoying. I bought a pair of rods in a boot sale for £5. A carbon carp rod and one of those really cheap shakespeare float rods. Looks naff but, works brilliantly for fish up to 4/5lb. Better than the £32 ABU anyway. Doesn't anyone test these rods before they put them on the market?
