I am nearly 80. Fished for years. Done match fishing, carp fishing ( not bivvies), roving rivers etc.
Now, I pole fish for silvers inc tench, on club natural lakes.I might go to a local small commercial (with toilet.?) Not so much for fish, but the ease of access etc. Wind direction is important in winter.
I use pole because to transport it is easier -my seat incorporates a trolley.
I use winter clothing including heated base layer.
As long as I can move , I will fish.
I knew a lad ( lovely chaps) whose wife was crippled by disease; he had to do everything for her. Their life , frankly, was hell.
He had one day off a week. He went fishing without fail, whatever the weather, etc. I knew why he never missed.
Whenever I think I shouldn't go because things are not quite right, I think of him.
If you are old but you can go, then.... Go.
"This ain't no rehearsal". as they say?
