Which landing net handle?

Look at finally swapping over to fibre glass landinf net handle from my old metal one as i cant seem to find a decent metal one. I did think about a 48inch bankstick but trying to keep stuff small and light

Ive seen the following.
The ngt 2m-3m tele or screw adjustments. 10-15 quidish or the middy power handle in 2.5m 15-20 quid ish.

I quite like middy as a brand i need the lenght as it helpful when fishing under bridges or moorings but every penny helps.
It will be just used for perch fishing no hopefull4t no carp or breamm will need to be lifted but maybe the odd jack if they take minniw

I cant validate the cost of drennan super specialist or ome of the korum ones that extend as there about 40 each

I'm on my second Middy handle. I'd still have the first but it floated off down the Trent a few years ago. It's a 2.5m take-apart, slim, strong and light, and has landed everything I've caught save barbel. This one was dearer than the one you have in mind, but the quality of their stuff seems very good.



They're based up the road from here, so my local shop, Gerry's (Now Nathan's since a take-over) had a good stock and that's how I came across them.

I have both and the middy is very effective with or without the extension piece added. Very good value for money. The Ngt is perfectly ok too.

Thanks. Glad you had both. Which one has the smaller pack down size?
It would be the 3m ngt one as i think 2m is a little too short for my river banks

I would sat they are the same. Both are robust. I have a Drennan 3m and a maver 2m one. The tricast looks good too but far more expensive. In my view you need a few of varying lengths for different venues and size of nets.

Mike, just get one that has 2 or 3 threaded section options, similar to the Daiwa you kindly gave to me,
There are lighter ones one the market,Or get a 4 metre take apart ,which can then be used at various lengths..
Works out cheaper than buying multiple handles.

Series 7 Ex-Strong Carp Match 3.3m | Drennan International

Best multi piece handle I’ve ever had. Two sections threaded, 3 lengths 1.1, 2.2, 3.3m. I used it at 2.2m with top 2 when fishing matches and at 2.2m with bottom 2 for carp, barbel and other heavier fish.

I notice that there is now a new tier of models above Acolyte called Vertex.

Each bag/ quiver has a couple so I never forget one.

Only got main pole and main margin pole, the other is grandsons main pole and margin poles.All others have gone.
Have the Tourney landing net handle I had off you, also 2 maver and a daiwa, All carbon and take apart.
MAP have brought a very lightweight one out, reckoned to be ok for good commercial carp, I cant justify paying over £100 for it, nor paying that for top range Daiwa or Garbolino handles . Like you i have them in my various holdalls .

I haven't and couldn't imagine fishing without an adjustable,strong landing net pole,I have one that I bought from Veals back in the dark ages made out of fibreglass,replaceable collets,cost £8,still works and I have collets,then I got the drennan super specialist(now have two)which i like a lot,then on a trip to Dartford Angling Centre I bought their extendable after seeing Ray Roberts comment on FM,another very good pole,if I didn't have the cash I would save to buy the Drennan or the DAC one.One tying I would say,a landing net pole that bends when netting a quality fish is next to useless and I would rather net fish with a bankstick than use a stick of rhubarb....

I dont plan on needed that many. I only just carry one rod as I travel very light as i do swim hop a lot.
I only need an everyday net which is big enough for the odd carp /pike with may take perch hookbait and handle which am (replacing) and my folding dropshot net.
I may treat myself to a 2nd larger unhooking mat this year too at one stage as i think ill be spending a big more time on day tickets

The drennan one you mention looks good and had good reviews just more money then i can really spent on one

There is another Series 7 net pole that is 2.6m and has a 30cm optional end piece for Matchman to detach and put fish into a keepnet without having to lift them out of the net. If I was still fishing matches I’d have one as it’s a clever idea.

Best one-piece specimen landing net handle I ever had was a Daiwa Black Widow, very slim and immensely stiff. Only sold it when I found the Drennan 3 piece would do the same and it wasn’t 6ft long. Cracking bit of kit though. Local matchmen used them as you could dead-lift lumps out on them, providing the net head was up to it.

The tourney landing net I have does that, also had a middy carp bagger one that did it,that handle could go to nearly 5 metres. Sometimes it's just as easy putting the fish in keepnet without taking end piece of handle, especially in the wet and sometimes need a decent grip. If you dont make sure the end piece is not on properly ,there is a chance of it comining apart with good fish in net,and not much to grab hold of as it goes to water, They are a good idea but have their faults.

Daiwa ninja all the way in what's in the list,
Check out Shimano Sahara as well and the mud priced Preston reels.

Edit to my posy of May 2020 regarding landing net handles,
I bought the Drennan Acolyte 4m handle recently,
It's slim strong, has two threaded and pinned ends, full carbon. Price around £130

I'm confused about the need for a 4m landing net pole,unless high banks,or weedbeds dictate,it seems match anglers today use these and then struggle to chase fish to net them,especially in a wind,i've always found that four to 9ft or so is best,the shorter the better if possible,so I like adjustable length poles....
