Whitty, Keith M, have either of you tried the stretches of the Ivel the club has access to - no Barbel but very quiet and plenty of chub, so I’ve heard?

Dave, I did have a wander along the Ivel around Sandy in beds during the closed season but the water was extremely low when I went and it didn’t look that promising then; although I know it does hold some nice fish. I need to explore it a bit more closely when the levels are a bit more normal and hopefully with someone who knows a little more about it before I have a go at fishing it properly.

I’ve heard that it does hold a few nice Barbel in some places, but I wouldn’t know whereabouts to try for them (yet) :)

I'm tempted to have a look myself. I gave up my VAC ticket a couple of years ago, after I'd fished the long walk most weeks for a few years, but I'm starting to feel the need for some very quiet fishing and I can't think of anywhere else. I know even the long walk can get a bit busy these day.

sorry Dave, hadn't seen the above post,i've fished the Ivel a lot,in summer it's pretty weedy, the fishing has gone downhill over the last few years and chub numbers have decreased a lot, still fish there though, the Ouse above Bedford is gorgeous looking but chub numbers are down too,big fish there though,to over 7lbs...

Went to Bedford,no bream,or big fish Sean, just plenty of nice roach....

I fished a couple of the VAC stretches of the Gt Ouse and it is beautiful and it was very quiet as most of the barbel had gone by then. The drive is too long for me to be able to fish it enough to make it worthwhile unfortunately.

Fished the waggler with just corn and loose fed pellets and hemp for a little late afternoon sesh Yesterday had these 2 and some nice Roach, the 7lb Bream brought in a crowd lol the way it bolted off I thought it was a Tench! The Tinca eluded me again but I’m sure it will come.lovely swim and clear! Rowers were a pain but when they were close I had been loose feeding by the lilies And getting Roach so wasn’t too bad. As promised I took a picture of the location!?

I had a Bream 3rd cast the other day and I thought ‘oh happy days I’m on a shoal’ but like yourself only had the 1 it’s strange the most I’ve had in 1 sitting so far was 5 but that was past the town bridge. Oh well still plenty of opportunities to bag up ?

Yeah 100% fish mate. Do you know if any tench have been caught down the Embankment yet? I think I have my preferred swim down there but it’s more for late afternoon/evening as rowers are persistent

The rowers became more active as evening started,I packed then,I dont think there has been a tench out for ages...the deep hole above the railway bridge below the boating lake on the backwater was always good for a few tench on the feeder...

Oxford, and occasionally Warrington Lancs
I was going to go on the Thames at Sandford this week, but a sunburnt leg put paid to that.
Not going fishing until it clears up ,only because its painful to walk if keep it in one position for a while, the skin and muscle underneath seem to tighten up.
And prostate biopsy next week could mean a few uncormfatable days.
Was looking forward to my first match on Newlands as well on Sunday.
Oh to be young again. ?‍♂️
