STILL GRASPING HEAVEN-SENT opportunities Warren ‘Wol’ Gaunt and Andy Nellist are having a season you can only dream of.
Andy and his 16lb 4oz bream that started the ball rolling
Andy nets a 16.4 bream the first night then the following night Wol fishes the same swim and strikes gold with three bream over 16lb in a catch of five doubles.

It all happened on the same southern gravel pit where the duo have caught some huge eels to almost 8lb earlier this season, FishingMagic members Andy and Wol turned their attention from eels to bream when some large bream were spotted rolling.
Andy fished the hot-spot on the first night and accounted for his 16.4 bream, using lobworm hookbait over a bed of maggot and chopped worms.
On the second night Wol fished the same hot-spot while Andy moved over to the left into a not so productive area in the corner of a bay.

Wol’s tackle was a line-aligner with 2oz running leads was the chosen rig, fishing corn stacks on a hair rig or lobs direct on the hook. Hooklinks were 20 inches of 20lb Suffix Stealth Skin peeled back 4 inches. Hooks were size 6 Pallatrax ‘The Hook’.
The rigs were cast to the swim where he’d spodded a little mixed hemp, Vitalin, corn and Betaine pellets. Each rig carried a PVA bag loaded with the same spodded mix.

Wol said, “I fished from 9pm until 4.30am. I was a tad pleased when I had the first sixteen, then along came the second and I thought, Christ, two 16’s!
14lb 10oz
“Then I had the third sixteen. Jasus, I fell about laughing to be honest; talk about when it all comes right. Topped off a while later with a 14.10 and a 10.12.”
As far as FishingMagic knows this is the first time that three 16lb bream have come out during one single day or night session. Wol, a devotee of big slabs, has caught them to over 17lb in previous seasons and Andy, himself a big bream enthusiast, has bream to almost 17lb to his credit.
10lb 12oz
“I just love my big bream fishing,” Wol enthused, “and this really was a special night that I wont forget for a long, long time.
“An 18-pounder is the target now!” He added.
And who would lay odds that one or both of the deadly duo won’t get it?
