Lough Ree International Pike Angling Festival
Wednesday to Friday April 13-14-15
Four weeks today we will be launching the first boats from Coosan Point for the opening day of the International Pike Angling festival at Athlone.
We have already passed last year’s entry figures and now expect to have 100 anglers taking part. That would give us a fabulous cash prize fund of €15,500 including the guaranteed €3,000 first prize for the biggest pike along with cash prizes for the top six fish every day.
But it isn’t just about winning a prize. Lough Ree is an outstanding fishery and to get among the leading prizes on any of the three fishing days you needed a pike of 18lb or more- now that is good. And then each evening we have a presentation session where the banter is mighty!

Pike Angling World Cup
The “World Cup” for pike anglers is going to be a lot of fun and there are already eight countries represented – England, France, Germany, Ireland, Latvia, Poland, Russia and Slovakia – all eager to be the first to get their name on the trophy. All anglers are welcome.
