A 14ft shark has turned up in the nets of a trawler fishing for pollack off Cornwall.
The two man crew of the Emma May landed the 520lb thresher at Looe, in Cornwall and brought it back to harbour.
The monster – nearly twice the 323lb rod caught record – was snapped up by a mystery buyer for £ 300.Chris Dominic, skipper of the Emma May, said: “All I saw was a bloody great big tail come up and I didn’t know what it was because the water was cloudy.
“The next minute I looked down there, and there was a blooming great shark, and I couldn’t do anything with it. We had to tie it to the boat and cut the gear free.”
