** Realistic Reviews by Real Anglers**
It’s not a bad thing for we sea anglers to make a habit of looking through the carp and pike boys’ accessory range, for often there’s something there that adapts well to sea fishing. Just such an item is the Fox Pike System Trace Blades.
The Trace Blades are constructed from specially ground high quality stainless steel and are scissors designed to cut through tough multi-strand wire used for pike fishing traces. Being from stainless steel there are no corrosion problems to worry about. They sport a rubberised coating called “Soft Touch” around the scissors handles making them comfortable to use in both wet and cold conditions. The handles are also large enough in diameter to allow big fingers and thumbs through them.
The Trace Blades are tough. The blades are held together with a strong stainless screw rivet that keeps the blades tightly together for perfect cutting and avoids the blade developing excessive movement allowing the blades to wobble on the rivet after prolonged use. Neither did the Soft Touch coating show sings of wear after several weeks of use.
They are lightweight, just a couple of ounces, and measure only some 12.5cms long with a handle width of just 7cms making for easy storing in either a coat pocket, rig wallet or tackle box.
Sea anglers who target tope and use wire traces up to 60lb breaking strain will find them ideal, though I wouldn’t recommend continuously cutting wire over this breaking strain as it’s asking the tool to perform way beyond it’s original design. The Trace Blades also double up as normal scissors for cutting through heavy mono and telephone wire. I found them indispensable for rig making.
All in all an excellent little tool that does away with the need to carry heavy cutters around with you. There are no corrosion problems and the blades stay sharp. You’ll also find them useful around the house for DIY wiring jobs and the like.
The Fox System Trace Blades retail for around £ 8.75 and can be found in Fox stockists and most good tackle shops.
