Get Hooked on Fishing in 2007!

Budding anglers of all ages in Cornwall can look forward to a bumper season of free fishing events courtesy of the Environment Agency.

Last year’s ‘Get Hooked’ sessions proved so popular extra events have been added to this year’s programme to cope with the demand.

Once again the Agency has teamed up with the owners of local fishing lakes who have made their sites available for the events. Four fully qualified angling instructors will be close at hand to provide tuition at each of the sessions.

The majority of fishing events are for youngsters and will take place during the school holidays at various locations across Cornwall and West Devon. There are also family fun days plus a handful of new events for adult anglers. There are ‘Get Hooked’ sessions for youngsters aged 10 – 16 as well as events for young children.

The programme kicks off next month (April 11) with a coarse and trout fishing event for juniors at Bake Lake near Saltash and continues through the spring and summer. The final session, an introduction to trout fishing for adults, will be held at Stithians Lake near Redruth on September 8.

Numbers are limited so people are advised to book in advance. The Family events can be attended without advance booking, but if you want to make sure you get a chance to fish on the day it is recommended you book.
