Penetrator 1: While basically a classic pattern this hook has a special bend and shank design. The triple temper process helps remove stress points for precise flexibility. The special bend, which is slightly reversed, reduces hook skid or tear. Material is high grade carbon steel and a special additional process is used to close the eye.

Penetrator 2: What a winner! Since the relatively recent advent of very high quality hooks (thanks to Gold Label to quote Julian Cundiff) this design must be the most popular to copy to date. Upon its launch the following quote appeared in the UK’s leading carp mag: “once in a while you get something carpy in your hands which immediately strikes you as the definitive version in the field it represents… to my mind Penetrator Two will be the hook of this or any other season.”

FISHINGmagic VERDICT

I’ve used these hooks since they first came out and apart from the very, very odd rogue with an eye that wasn’t quite closed, they remain one of my favourite hooks in the larger sizes.

Penetrator Ones, with their slightly inturned point, I like best for chub and barbel fishing, and Penetrator Twos for carp fishing.

Both patterns are well made, strong and reliable and although I’ve tried scores of different hooks over the years, liking some and not others, Penetrators have always been a favourite.
