Cling-on Dips
Although Hales offer a range of base mixes and ingredients Ithink they are best known for their Clingy Dips, Matchman Dips andvarious flavours.
First let’s deal with the Cling-On Dips of which I have used aselection for a good while now with excellent results. I always carrythe Fruity and the Spicy whenever fishing as I have found they reallycan make a difference.
Supplied in 75g and 225g tubs, the first thing you will notice onopening is just how natural and appealing they are. All the flavoursare strong but at the same time smooth with no chemical smell or burnThe Fruity and the Spicy dips taste gorgeous to the angler let alonethe fish!
The dips certainly live up to their name and are extremely thick. You have to give the bait a good push to get it into the flavour. Dueto the make-up of the dip you can cast it straight out with an amplecoating or you can leave it in the tub as the flavour willeffectively seep into the bait for an even longer lasting scentleak.
All the range are naturally coloured, eg, the fruity and spicy area deep orange whilst the Chocolate Orange is very dark and rich as isthe Corn Steep Liquor.
The range is quite extensive and offers Fruity, Spicy, Fishy(very), Creamy (smooth and very creamy), Strawberry Cream, ChocolateOrange (makes you want to ‘tap it and unwrap it’ – smells thebusiness), Hemp Oil, Corn Steep Liquor and Pre-Digested Liver (not asbad as it sounds).
Something there for everyone and all are of high quality, competitively priced and well worth a go.
Prices as follows for 75g & 225g tubs
Fruity, Spicy, Creamy, Fishy, Strawberry Cream, Chocolate Orange£ 2.25 and £ 6.00.
Hemp Oil, Corn Steep Liquor, Pre Digested Liver £ 3.00 &£ 8.75
Matchman Dips
The Matchman range are of a totally different make-up to that ofthe Clingy dips. They’re thinner and colourless, and have anartificial smell. But they are just as effective.
I presume an artificial carrier is used in these to give instantflavour release for short session or match fishing where time is ofthe essence, hence the name.
The Matchman range is only available in 75g tubs in the followingflavours:
Worm – this is the only one I have tried in the Matchman range andhave had some good catches of perch, tench and roach while usingit.
Luncheon Meat – This one does smell meaty despite the artificialcarrier.
Sweetcorn and Trout Pellet.
They retail at £ 2.00.
