BURGHFIELD BEAUTY

Neil and his 14lb Kennet barbel
Despite rain and gale force winds RMC Specimen Group secretary, Neil Wayte, and RMC boss, Ian Welch travelled up to the Kennet at Burghfield in search of barbel.

The evening did not start well with Ian losing two good barbel within a half hour spell due to hook-pulls but things improved when he netted a fish of 10lb 5oz at 9pm.

Having had just a few pulls from chub in his first choice of swim Neil dropped in below Ian and struck into a powerful bite shortly after casting out. After an incredibly powerful fight the fish was revealed as not only Neil’s first double-figure barbel but as the stunning 14lb specimen pictured above, a short, fat and perfectly conditioned fish. Truly a beast amongst barbel!

Both Neil and Ian tempted their fish on a prototype Nutrabaits boilie fished as a paste.
