A landing net complete with pole, offering outstanding features, quality and value.
Deep mesh easily and safely engulfs a 30lb-plus fish
The smooth latex coating is more fish-friendly than a traditional landing net. It is also quick drying, odour reducing and harder wearing.
verdict
I had a few misgivings when I first felt this new latex mesh that is featured on a growing number of landing nets these days. It felt a little rough to the touch and I did wonder if this would be more inclined to rub the protective mucous from the scales of a fish.
Strong spreader block
Latex mesh
The mesh isn’t as rough as you first imagine though; it’s the stiffness of it that gives this illusion and I’m now convinced that it is less inclined to remove a fish’s protective mucous for the simple reason that there are fewer areas of contact and the actual mesh is quite smooth.
That the mesh is less inclined to be smelly, is more rot-proof and quick drying there is no doubt.
The carbon pole is light and strong, as are the carbon arms of the net. The spreader block is strong and the holes are generous enough to allow easy insertion and removal of the arms.
The net itself is plenty deep enough to completely engulf the biggest carp, without being so deep the fish is dragging on the ground when a short person like me carries the fish to the unhooking mat – See video clip below.
