Krill Lamps – the best Electronic Lightsticks for Fishing

Krill Lamps (electronic lightstick) are the ideal replacement for the chemical lightsticks you use once and throw away! The main feature is the ability to turn the lamp on and off, as required.

The Krill Lamp has many other advantages over the chemical lightstick. It is available in six different colours and two variants – the 360-degree lamp or the 180-degree lamp – and two models, with the Longlife offering over 120 hours life per set of 2 x AA batteries or the brighter Extreme model, which still offers 50 hours+ and the 180-degree version is powerful enough for night reading and lighting up a bivvy.

Krill Lamps are completely waterproof down to a depth of 50 metres – reassuring if you’re caught in a downpour on the bank! They are guaranteed to glow for a staggering 3,000 hours using state-of-the-art electro-luminescent technology.

Sure to pay its way with any fisherman who needs a reliable, instant light source wherever they are – the Krill Lamp comes highly recommended!

Available in Green, White or Blue.

Original Krill Lamp: Lasting over 120 hours per set of 2 AA batteries. This light replaces hundreds of chemical light sticks and is approximately as bright as a chemical light stick after it has been activated for about 2 hours. The measured light output is 5.5 Fl for the green lamps. The Lamp is lit 360 degrees with the exception of a small seam on one side. Perfect for replacing chemical light sticks used in marking things, where light is needed in all angles.

180 Krill Lamp: Same battery life as the Original, with the lit area cut down to 180 degrees. The light output is almost doubled to 8.5 Fl. A piece of Velcro is supplied, and it is good for directional lighting and marking against a flat surface. Approximately as bright as a chemical light stick after it has been activated for 1.5 hrs.

Extreme Krill Lamp: Lasting over 50 hours per set of 2 AA batteries, this light has a higher output, measuring at about 10.5 Fl with the 360 degree angle of viewing. Approximately as bright as a chemical light stick after it has been activated for 1.5 hours. Good for marking and lighting small areas where light is needed in all angles.

Extreme 180 Krill Lamp: Lasting over 50 hours per set of 2 AA batteries. This lamp is the Brightest Krill Lamp to date, with an output of 15.5 Fl (approximately 51Cd/m2). Comparable to a 12-hour chemical light stick after it has been activated for 1 hour. With the lit area cut down to 180 degrees, it makes for a perfect reading light or low intensity flashlight.

Ultra LED Krill Lamp: Our newest innovation where electroluminescent technology meets LED technology. A super-bright red LED lamp has been placed in the end of the unit which provides an incredible point source in combination with the soft glow of the Original 360 Krill Lamp in any colour. The LED light can be seen from over a mile away. Lasts over 50 hours per set of 2 AA batteries and is comparable to a 5min light stick after it has been activated for a few seconds. Great for emergencies and general use.

FISHINGmagic VERDICT

Enough light to enable you to see around your bivvy, but not obtrusive enough to spoil your night vision.

There’s nothing worse than waking up to a screaming bite alarm in the pitch dark and then having to fumble around for a torch so that you can find the bivvy door.

No, I’m not kidding, I’ve seen anglers literally clawing at the back of their bivvy in their efforts to try and find the doorway when they’ve been wakened from a deep sleep by a screaming bite alarm.

The Krill lightsticks use little power, they are waterproof and are without the inherent danger of candle light and other naked flame lights.

Definitely a must-have for any angler who fishes at night from any kind of shelter.
