HALIBUT PELLET AND SWEETCORN Price: £ 4.35 Per tub KRYSTON SAY: What is Doppel-ganger? Now you can fish with real corn or halibut pellets that can be instantly moulded and formed into advanced hookbaits, any size or shape you require. Do not confuse Doppel-ganger with artificial plastic or foam baits. Doppel-ganger is a ground breaking advanced hookbait compound containing well proven fish catching ingredients e.g. halibut meal or corn meal. Unlike artificial baits Doppel-gangers emit true (come and eat me) food signals. Oils, scents, and amino attractions are all released from the natural ingredients contained within the bait. Great news – but wait, it gets even better….Doppel-ganger is truly buoyant and small fish proof. Instant popped up sweet corn or halibut pellet pop ups are made in seconds, no foam or cork required. Using a dopp could not be easier. Simply mould to your required shape and cast out. No fuss, no drilling, not even a baiting needle is necessary. Unlike commercial pellets, which break down in hours, Doppel-gangers last for days and with care are re-usable. Why is Doppel-ganger better than the real thing?
How easy is it to use? Realism Artificial baits can never emit true food signals. Produced from true food ingredients they smell and taste of real food and give off true food signals. To all intents and purposes the Doppel-ganger HP contain the same grades and volume of halibut meal and constituents as a commercially shop bought pellet. Secret ingredients coupled with advanced technology have been utilised to form an easily malleable, very stiff, long lasting, tiddler proof, hard to break down compound. Tethered baits The difference between the rejected pellet and the eaten samples is the tethering effect created by the weight of the hook and the link. Doppel-gangers instantly help negate the tethering effect of the hook by enhancing your presentation. Childs play and Irritating ‘hair’ stops. Another huge plus point that seasoned anglers will rejoice in is the fact that no unsightly ‘stick out’ ‘hair’ stops are evident. It has to be said that a hard plastic stop sat on the top of bait has always been a major concern with many anglers. Do fish feel it? Does it put them off leading to rejection? Many believe so which is why they try to bury them into the bait! Trouble is with hard skinned baits it’s not always possible to do so. No such problems using Dopp’s, the entire ‘hair’ stops sits unobtrusively well inside the confines of the bait, completely out of harms way. Here is a little dopp’s tip for those casting distance. With the stop buried in the bait there is no good reason to use those thin bendy fragile ‘hair stops, they serve no real purpose. Instead use something more substantial; a small piece of half mm tubing makes a superb anchor giving far greater purchase inside the bait. Even the greatest long distance caster will not be able to budge the bait on his longest cast. Finally the tubing helps resist the attention of nuisance fish, they will not be able to suck the pellet off the ‘hair using the more substantial stop. Taking care of your Dopp If you intend re-using the product after a session do not place the damp piece back in the box. This will prevent mould growth on the unused material. To avoid contamination simply wrap the used piece in cling film for another day. Remember Doppel-ganger is real food. Something a little different? Glycerol based flavours work best of all with the Dopp. Should you wish to pep it up a little try adding no more than two drops. Work the flavour well into the entire block of material. For starters Esterberry works well. Even better cut the block in half and have two different flavours, one drop to each half. Fine-tuning and buoyancy The excellent degree of buoyancy makes instant true long lasting pop-ups. The buoyant bait will completely lift the hook as well as a heavy sinking hooklength completely off the bottom. Used in conjunction with a small piece of ‘Heavy Metal’ tungsten putty you can present your bait anywhere between half an inch off the bottom to the complete length of your hooklength. Alternative anti-eject shapes. Doppel-ganger will be widely available by early summer 2003 from all good tackle shops. Two varieties will be initially available, Halibut and Sweet Corn. Plans to increase the range are ahead. Depending on the size of baits you require the contents of one tub will produce enough baits for the busiest session. For instance when you are making sweet corn sized baits you can expect approximately 40/50 long lasting hookbaits per tub and with care are fully re-usable. The wide range of options and potential Doppel-ganger offers today’s angler are truly enormous. Anyone who fishes not only for carp but for barbel, tench, bream, chub, specimen roach and all manner of species will find this designer hookbait a godsend. From Mr specialist to Mr average, Doppel-ganger will surely find a place in your tackle box. Doppel-ganger questions and answers A. When fish are feeding on free samples but are not picking up the hookbait. Q. Why are fish not picking up the hookbait? A. In some cases they are, but they are also successfully rejecting it. Q. Why are they rejecting it? A. Because the hook bait is different to the freebies; it is tethered. Q. How can a Doppel-ganger help? A. Because it is mouldable and buoyant, fine-tuning is possible. Fine-tuning will help negate the weight of the hook and link dramatically eliminating the tethering effect. Also as it consists of more than 30% fishmeal as used in ordinary commercial pellets it perfectly mirrors your free offerings. Q. How is Doppel-ganger best used? A. Exceptional results have been obtained using Doppel-ganger in conjunction with a soft, supple braid. The hookbait should sit as low to the bottom as possible. From this position it is possible to raise it up if required to clear bottom debris or to use it as a pop-up proper. When fishing over filamentous weed straight pop-ups using stripped down Snake-bite or Super-Mantis in the form of combi-links or hinge rigs will also allow the hookbait to travel freely. Doppel-ganger can be used for a wide variety of methods, it can form unique cocktails. First thread a normal sinking bait onto the ‘hair’. Now wrap Doppel-ganger around the stop as the uppermost bait. Add or remove small pieces of Dopp until you achieve the sink rate of your choice. You have now made a perfect bait, balanced to the degree of your choice, literally in seconds. Q. How else can I achieve a buoyant or pop-up pellet? A. There are no alternatives. Artificial floating rubber or plastic pellets have no food value and therefore cannot emit attraction in the form of true food signals. Artificials cannot be fine-tuned or moulded. Adding cork or foam above a commercial pellet proves to be very poor presentation – the commercial pellet has a short wet life and is susceptible to the attentions of small nuisance fish. Q. How long does a Doppel-ganger last in water? A. With the Halibut for at least three days and will begin to rot down after five days. The sweetcorn version will last much longer, eight to ten days. Expect a much longer period for both products when fishing in cooler water. It is extremely tiddler resistant and with care is re-usable. Q. In what type of carp waters will a Doppel-ganger help catch more fish? A. In waters where carp are wary and are able to differentiate between hookbaits and free offerings. Also in well stocked waters where because of its improved presentation its use should significantly increase your catch rate. | |||
