A Norfolk angling club has been fighting a losing battle to save hundreds of carp, tench and silver fish in a popular fishery.
Soaring temperatures saw oxygen levels plummet in Diss Mere, with double figure carp among the casualties.
Diss and District Angling Club, which runs the venue, fears much of its stock has been wiped out, despite a desperate appeal for pumps to oxygenate the water.
Club chairman George Langton said: “The fish are dying, we are doing everything we can but it is now costing us £ 100 a day in petrol alone.”
The EA said: “We have been working with those involved and offering advice. We do not have the appropriate equipment needed to help physically but our fisheries officer is offering advice.”
