The T4 Head Torch is based on LED technology, there being four LED’s in the head and operates for at least two weeks on one set of three AA batteries. There isn’t a great deal more I can say about this torch that I haven’t already said about the Lightwave 2000 torch I reviewed in these columns a few weeks ago.

The head straps on the T4 are good quality and comfortable, with a band that goes around the head and one that goes over the top of the head. Both are easily adjustable to give a precise positioning of the lamp on the forehead. The padded plate at the front for the forehead was comfortable too. The straps are soft and comfortable and I found I could wear the head torch for long periods without any undue discomfort.
The T4 also has an easily operated and finely adjustable tilt mechanism so that the soft beam can be directed exactly where you want it.
It is made from a cold-resistant, very shock-proof ABS plastic that is waterproof down to 1 metre.
The T4 uses three AA batteries and weighs 119 g without batteries.
At £ 39.50 the T4 head torch is not cheap, but take into account the massive saving on batteries considering the torch can be left continually switched on for 340 hours and still be bright enough to read by, and that the LED’s last for about 11 years, and it begins to sound quite reasonable.
