Traditional torches produce light by heating a filament until itglows, wasting more than 90% of the available energy. LED’s usenearly all their available energy to produce light using a crystalthat produces a ‘soft’ yet very bright light.

By using LED’s the lifetime of conventional batteries can beprolonged considerably. Even after several days (yes, days!)continual use, this torch will still emit enough light for you to beable to read by. LED’s also have a life expectancy of about 10 years,again, that’s if they were continually switched on for that length oftime.
This new T7 version of the Lucido Head torch takes the concept alittle further by the fact that it has seven LED’s which areswitchable between 3 and all 7 LED’s, so the power usage andbrightness is adjustable.
The body is made of durable ABS/Polycarb construction for shockand temperature tolerance. It is waterproof up to one metre andweighs 124g without batteries. It uses three AA batteries.

The screw-on bezel switch system engages at three, five and seven LED’s. The ‘off’ position is at the end of the rotation.
I found the head straps infinitely adjustable and comfortable andthe torch was easy, but slightly fiddly, to operate through the LED switching system. The difference in light availability wasn’t greatly noticeable even between the minimum three LED’s and the maximum seven, but this could be more of an optical illusion rather than actual fact.
I can safely say that the T7 is the best head torch I’ve everused, but such quality comes at a premium, and the premium in thisinstance is £ 53.99
If you have the readies then buy one. It’s a great piece ofkit.
