Tench action is quite dominant at the moment, with this favouriteof summer species making regular appearances, even on Lymm Dam wherethey are not prevalent. Club official, Lew Poulson, reported watchingthe shear joy and excitement of a little boy who under the supervisionof an equally excited dad, land a tench of 4lb-3-0. By and largeLymm Dam is fishing well with plenty of fish caught, unfortunatelyapart from the odd tench, carp and bream the size of fish issmall.
Sankey Canal action is also dominated by tench, although thissituation is to be expected on this water. Best catches are fromtight up to far bank weeds, with long pole and tip tactics scoringbest. The usual baits are performing well, although bread is thefavourite at the moment.
Grimsditch Mill Pool is fishing exceptionally well at the moment.Official, Jeff Spencer, reports that skimmers are ruling the roost asusual, although members and day ticket anglers alike have beenlanding carp to 21lb, most of which have been caught at twilight.
Belmont Pool action has improved greatly over the past few days, again anglers can expect plenty of action from the large head of carpwithin this water. Willow Pool is suffering an algae bloom at themoment, compounded by a high pH level, a situation associated withalgae blooms.
A big well done to junior member Luke Jones, who accompanied byJohn Bristow, landed a 15lb-8-0 koi carp from Whitley Pool, during atwo hour session last Sunday. Not content with that he went on tohave a further two hours on Belmont Pool, where he landed two carp, one at 13lb-4-0 and the other at 11lb-8-0. As you can imagine 10 yearold Luke was very pleased with himself, as I would of been if it wasme that landed three doubles in less than four hours.
Woodside Pool has performed very well since it opened, cruciancarp and rudd have kept all anglers busy, with tench and grass carpspicing things up due to their specimen proportions. Members must beaware that parking is none existent and great care must be exercisedwhen approaching and leaving the water.
Village Pool bounced back well after its deoxygenation, withplenty of action for all. All species have been showing themselves, with carp, hungry as ever taking from the surface. Not too far awayon Founders Pool, action is steady and reliable, water keeper PhilWain reports specimen carp, roach and perch.
It has been brought to the Club’s attention that members arefishing the pool adjacent to the Founders Pool car park (PrudencePool), this is a stock pool only and not open for fishing. Membersfound fishing any of the waters on Antrobus Golf Course, exceptFounders Pool, will have their membership withdrawn from them.
Members are asked to be particularly sensitive to the possibilityof fish thieves operating on Club waters. We have good reason tobelieve that some of our carp are the target of thieves and systemshave been put in place to minimise the risk. If you see what youthink is a theft taking place, please phone the police immediately,if you are just suspicious give the head bailiff a ring on574248.
I can be contacted on 01925 411774.
