Cold and wet conditions have prevented many of our members fromventuring out over the last week, as a result reports are a littlethin on the ground, however the ones I have are very positive.
Much to his elation Dave Shard has now broke the double barrierfor his favoured species, barbel. Fishing a peg not too far from theTern Mouth on the Severn at Atcham, he landed eleven of his targetedspecies, the biggest smashing his previous personal best weight bypulling his scales down to 11lb-3-0. Dave’s session was not a longstay session either, all his fish came during a five hour trip takingin the first hour of darkness.
On the carp scene Belmont Pool has been very productive, asdemonstrated by Phil Wain who landed eight fish during a nightsession last week, the heaviest being a linear mirror of 15lb-4-0. Alongside him his angling companion Bill Sayer fared just as well forfish numbers, but unfortunately he never broke the doublebarrier,
On Lymm Dam, carp specialist Kevin Holt has found the carp actionvery hard at the moment, although he has been kept occupied by asteady stream of big bream, which quite happily take his boiliebaits.
Once again Grimsditch Mill Pool required aerating equipment the beinstalled last week, this equipment was running up until Saturdayafternoon, when the levels of dissolved oxygen within the water hadimproved sufficiently. Many thanks to John Getty for notifying us ofthe situation, and all who helped man the equipment.
The Club desperately requests assistance in the manning ofaeration equipment, if you can help please give me a ring letting meknow of your availability.
Lymmvale and Stockpool, Founders Pool, Village Pool, Monks Moatand Friars Pool remain closed to night fishing until the 1st ofOctober. Whilst the Club regrets the inconvenience and loss ofamenity to our responsible members, we do not apologise for thesteps taken to protect the future rights of all such members. Themeasures taken demonstrates to all, including land owners, that theClub will be resilient in its intolerance to littering.
