All the reports picked this week up via the Lymm Anglers websitewere concerning the rivers, which made for an interesting change.Member Stuart Roberts reports a productive session on the River Deeat Churton last Thursday, he landed three chub to 1lb, three graylingto 1lb-4-0 and plenty of dace. Stuart also received a first handreport of a double figure carp caught just behind the fish farm onboilie, possibly an escapee, he also points out that he lost two bigfish himself.
Stuart’s method was stick float with maggot and caster on thehook.
Chub are the order of the day on the River Dane, as verified bymember Kev Robinson who landed six good fish, the biggest weighing inat 4lb10oz. Another angler not deterred by the conditions is CliffTaylor who last week spent an hour or two on the Severn at Rossall, and landed three barbel to 7lb-0-0 and three chub to 4lb whilstlegering meat and corn.
Wincham Brook was again the target of the attentions of river aceSte Daly. Trotting red maggot down a very cold brook, he landedgrayling to 4lb, chub to 4lb-8-0, some dace and a perch. He pointedout that the conditions of the water need to be read very carefully,as sometimes legering can be the best method and other times a movingbait is essential to get a bite. He advises that experimentation isrequired to find the best method.

Last Sunday the Junior Section fished a pairs match on StathamPool, with each junior competitor paired with an adult. It neverceases to amaze me the spirit in which these youngsters stick thecourse, the day was cold and damp with much of the match fished intorrential rain, yet there was no complaints, no whingeing or whining, just a group of youngsters making the most of the day in a verypositive manner. I take my hat off to them all.
The winner on the day was Eddie McKenna partnered by Eddie Philipswhose match weight grossed 8lb-15-3, 2nd was Dave Davies partnered bySue Jupp with a weight of 5lb-4-13, third was Chris Edwards partneredby John Wheeler with a weight of 5lb-0-0 and fourth was Nathan Keirpartnered by Eric Derbyshire with a weight of 4lb-3-5.
Last Sunday aeration equipment was installed on Village Pool, following an alga die back which caused a deoxygenation. Hopefully bythe time of reading the problem will have resolved itself, and thepool will be open. However, it is always advisable to check first tosave time and wasted journeys
