By and large not much has changed since last week, again its small fish that are providing the action on all the popular waters, however there are a few reports of bigger fish. Club official, Kevin Peers reports that practicing matchmen on Lymm Dam have been landing decent sized bream to waggler tactics, best action was from the Church side with fish up to three pound regular visitors to the net.
Mick Gittins scored well for specimen roach on Founders Pool, catching five of them in his afternoon session weighing from 1lb-0-0 to 1lb-10-0. also amongst his catch were numerous perch to half a pound. He was using a pole with either punched bread, worm or a cocktail of both on the hook.Mick’s roach action was echoed on Village Pool by Committee member Eddie Rothwell. Eddie reports catching big roach last Sunday, although he had to wait for the last two hours of daylight for the action to heat up.
Member Tony Hughes enjoyed a decent session on Willow Pool, on the Belmont Estate. Using popped up pineapple boilies, he landed four carp to 6lb-10-0, giving him good sport in poor weather conditions.
On the rivers action is steady, both Dave Shard and Tom Casey take any opportunity to spend the occasional hour on their beloved River Severn. Dave had a nice brace of barbel from the Tern side of the River Severn at Atcham, weighing in at 6lb-8-0 and 8lb-0-0. Not bad for a hour and a half session.A couple of days later Tom visited the Severn at Rosall and landed one fish from four bites, resulting in a chub of 4lb-2-0.
Both Dave and Tom were using straight lead rigs, although Dave did alternate with a heavy maggot feeder.
Nearer to home the River Dane is giving up some nice chub, with the biggest reported fish a chub of 3lb-0-0 which came to member Cliff Taylor, who was using legered bread crust.
On the River Bollin, member John Hodson reports catching trout and the occasional barbel, with perch the most dominant fish at the moment.
