The 20th Ladies’ Coarse Angling World Championship will take place on the River Sava, near Radece in Slovenia on 23 and 24 August 2013, a venue not unknown to English anglers since there have been several other championships fished there in recent years.
The England Ladies are currently ranked number two in the world, second only to Italy and, as with the Disabled and Veterans’ teams, they are not sponsored and have to raise all of the money themselves if they wish to compete.
The exceptionally experienced squad for 2013 is made up of two former Individual World Champions in Wendy Locker and Emma Pickering, and with numerous podium finishes under their belt the team is hoping to improve on last year’s disappointing result in Holland.
With Samantha Perkins deciding not to nominate this year Jeannette Halliday has been selected to join the team and both England Manager, Dave Brooks, and Coach, Joe Roberts, are confident she will be an excellent addition to the squad.
