Andy replied:
“Not much actually, I was unemployed when I won the money and now I’m training to be an electrician, I’ve bought a five year old VW Caddy van which is handy for fishing but may well be used for work as I’m planning on using some of the money to set up in business, once I’m qualified.
My fishing has been hectic and some of the winnings has gone on entries for more matches, I’ve just returned from the festival fortnight at White Acres, the calibre of angler there leading up to the £25,000 Parkdean Final was amazing. Winning the Match This has given me new opportunities to compete in those festivals and big money events, which I just couldn’t afford to do before.
Next year, I’m planning on spending money on tickets for all the major competitions, Fish-O-Mania, White Acres and Match This, which was simply not financially possible this year.”
One amazing revelation the young Wells, Somerset based angler revealed was that he hadn’t bought any items of new tackle with his new found wealth and from what he has already said he seems to me to be using the money wisely and I’m even more certain now he was definitely the worthy winner on the day.
