The England selectors will be looking for anglers of international calibre and will be asking all attendees to fish the trials to international rules. All anglers must be experienced in fishing with bloodworm and joker and anyone wishing to take part in the trials must have up to date individual membership of the Angling Trust.
The first trial will be held on Wednesday 12 October 2011 for the Veterans for anyone who is 60 and over on the date of the trial. The trial for the Anglers with Disabilities will be held on Saturday 22 October 201w with both trials to be held on the River Nene at Middleholme, Peterborough.
Fishing will take place from 11.00pm to 3.00pm on both days and bait limits will be two litres of natural baits, of which a maximum of 0.75 litres can be bloodworm and joker.
Any angler who believes that they have the aptitude to enhance the England team’s standing in International fishing further in 2012 and would like to take part in the trials should contact Sandra Drew, Angling Trust’s Competitions and Events Manager, on 0115 9061 301 or email: sandra.drew@anglingtrust.net by no later than 07 October 2011.
Unfortunately the Angling Trust have not yet managed to secure any form of sponsorship or funding for these teams for 2012 so if anyone is selected from the trials they must be willing to pay up to £2,000 to participate in next year’s World Championships to be held in Portugal.
