Over 120 anglers from across the Midlands battled it out to win their own prestigious title whilst England defeated Denmark in the 2nd round of the world cup in June.

The title up for grabs was the Midland Angler Club Champion of Champions, and the deciding fishing match, organised by angling newspaper Midland Angler, was held at Woodland View Fishery in Droitwich.

Father of two Eliot Johnson, of Telford-based club Dawley Angling Society, beat his fellow competitors to walk away with the title and a mountain of prizes from leading tackle manufacturer Preston Innovations.

The format was to fish in two three-hour stints with a two and a half hour break in the middle, allowing those interested in the match taking place on the other side of the world to catch a glimpse of England
