The New Season approaches at Thornton Reservoir in Leicestershire!
Its amazing to think that some trout reservoirs are thinking about opening their doors again already, its doesn’t seem two minutes since they were closing for the winter!

Thornton is a 75-acre clear water reservoir, over 120 years old and is set in the lovely Leicestershire countryside yet just 10 minutes from the M1 junction 22.
It is stocked regularly and offers the fly anglers some great sport from both bank and boat. It even offers you a chance to try your hand at float tubing, if that takes your fancy!
There is a purpose built lodge on site where on-site Fishery Manager Ifor Jones will happily give useful advice and assistance.
The Reservoir has already received an initial stocking of 3000 rainbows from 1lbs 4oz upwards. This will be followed by 2 – 3 stockings each week once the season opens.
Recommended areas are around the shallows, Thornton Arm and the Wood, with bank anglers likely to enjoy the best of the sport early on. (Chest Waders are recommended)
