Musto are delighted to announce sponsorship of an extended andenhanced international event at The Game Fair following theirsuccessful support of the Spey Casting Championship in 2000. The newevent is expected to attract entries from the ranks of fishingprofessionals overseas, as well as from all parts of the UK andIreland.
Leading manufacturers of angling and field sports clothing, Mustoare putting up the £ 1000 cash prize, together with speciallycommissioned trophies. The prize list also includes Musto clothing.
On the advice of international Spey casting expert, Michael Evans,the event has been opened up to attract the finest exponents of thetechnique, which demands finesse as well as strength, timing andskill. Michael has prepared a set of rules which specify a maximumrod length of 18 feet and a maximum line diameter.
All major manufacturers of fishing tackle are invited to putforward their professional demonstrators. Entries are also expectedfrom spey casting experts connected with fishing hotels and sportingestates.
The event is being organised on behalf of Musto and The CLA by theSalmon & Trout Association, who emphasise that the amateurfisherman continues to be a most welcome and valued competitor.
The Musto International Open Spey Casting Championship will beheld at The CLA Game Fair, Woburn Abbey; heats will be held each dayfrom 27 to 29 July, with the Grand Final, judged on Sunday afternoonby Michael Evans, as the finale to the programme of anglingcompetitions.
Entry forms are available from The CLA Game Fair Office, PoasleyFarm, Dummer Road, Nutley, Hampshire, RG25 2HJ (Tel 01256 389767)and can be completed and returned by competitors to register theirinterest. However, entries can also be received each day by theSalmon & Trout Association located at the Musto Pavilion on thelakeside.
