If you have not come across Nash’s Monster Crab flavour before then what on earth have you been doing for the past couple of decades?
One of the all-time classics it’s a real stinker but one which has accounted for numerous big fish over the years, and not just carp and catfish, chub, barbel, tench and bream all home in on it and there are few species which will not be attracted by its pulling power.
As part of their ‘Fish Frenzy’ range NashBaits have combined Monster Crab with Shellfish to give a slightly different edge to the flavour and one which certainly enhances its all round appeal. Anyone who can remember the smell of the original Shellfish Sense Appeal will certainly recognise the undertones.
The ‘Fish Frenzy’ range has developed out of the core NashBait business in recognition of the huge demand for carp-style baits and products by anglers fishing the commercial and match venues but to say these baits are purely for the commercial angler would not be doing them justice. These are baits which will, of course, pull fish on the commercials but they will pull decent fish wherever you fish and whatever you fish for; this is Monster Crab after all.
As far as the baits FishingMagic looked at we started off with the 3mm Feed Pellets which are supplied in a 900g bag. Slow sinking with a reasonably rapid breakdown the pellets quickly broke down to create a cloud of attraction, so are suited to pulling fish without actually feeding them and, on stillwaters at least, the persistence of that attraction would certainly keep fish searching an area for food. They are perfect for cupping, feeder fishing, PVA bag work or simply loose feeding or spodding and a 6mm variant, with a longer breakdown time, is also available.
As part of the same range and with a complementary flavour and attractor profile was the Monster Crab and Shellfish Method Mix, which is supplied in an appropriately-sized 2kg bag.
With a mixture of particle sizes this groundbait leaves plenty of bits in your swim as well as creating that all important fizz of attraction and it mixed perfectly to create a slightly stick mix capable of carrying a fair bit of additional feed without breaking up in flight. Ideal for packing with the Fish Frenzy feed pellets but easily tailored to hold whatever you required to create the right feeding situation in your swim.
As with all method mixes it is simple to tweak this one to your exact requirements by combining it with other ingredients to create, for example, a stickier mix with a slower breakdown time for distance casting or catapulting or a looser-textured, more active mix for quicker attraction or close-in work. Whichever route you decide to take for your fishing you have a groundbait packed with Monster Crab and Shellfish flavour and attractants and there are very few species which will ignore that.
Finally, FM looked at the 10mm Monster Crab and Shellfish boilies, again designed to complement and work in conjunction with the rest of the range.
There really is very little to say about these! These are NashBait Monster Crab boilies in the perfect size (a 15mm version is also available) for the commercial and specialist angler. Supplied in a 200g pouch carp, tench, bream, chub and barbel will eat them all day long – what’s not to like?!
