Humminbird, which has an established record of introducing state-of-the-art fish finding technology, has once again taken a giant step forward with the launch of the technologically advanced Matrix Fishing System. The International debut for this new range, comprising eight new products, has taken place at the London Boat Show with Humminbird’s UK distributor Flow Distribution.

There are 8 models within the Matrix Fishing system and by offering such an extensive range, anyone from the occasional leisure angler, through to professional and semi-commercial users, can select the product which best meets the features required within the desired price bracket. Easy to understand icons marked on the products, and illustrated in the product brochures, show at a glance each models’ forward, side and downward viewing capability.

More than just a range of fishfinders, Matrix offers a choice of complete fishing systems, which put new technology at the angler’s disposal to help catch more fish. Top of the range is the Matrix 65 which features built-in “UniMap” cartography with two options available featuring 4mm detail covering the coastal areas of “Western Europe” or “South Pacific” as well as a built in GPS system.

Advanced accessories available for use with all Matrix models include Humminbird’s new WeatherSense Fishing Condition Monitor, which measures the barometric pressure changes that impact fish behaviour.

This new capability allows, for the first time ever, real time barometric pressure to be viewed on the fishfinder display. WeatherSense intelligent monitoring provides a record of the last 12 hours, so users start the day knowing what the conditions are, past and present. Knowledgeable anglers have learned that the increasing or decreasing weather conditions caused by barometric pressure has more of an effect on fish habits than any other condition.

All units can accept inputs from an external GPS unit that converts every unit into a full GPS-Trackplotter for advanced positioning capabilities. With the finest detail available in mapping technology, the Matrix products use the new Navionics Gold Seamless Cartography for blue water use, and inland freshwater maps from Navionics HotMaps.

Adding more excitement to the new Matrix series is a sunlight readable colour unit, boasting 320 detail enhanced vertical pixels. This state-of-the-art colour unit offers the Humminbird legendary “If it’s Fish, it’s Red” feature.

Key Matrix features include large, high definition LCD displays with Ultra Black pixel technology and 12 levels of grayscale for ultra fine detail. The new Matrix series have at least 240 vertical pixels, displaying incredible resolution to show fish and bottom structure on the screen.

Standard on all of the new Matrix models, new Sonar Echo Enhancement Technology is so sensitive it will track a BB shot to 121m (400 feet), and has an incredible 6.35 cm (2.5in) of target separation. Select units in the series offer Dual Beam Plus sonar that combines the precision of Narrow Beam with the coverage of a Wide Beam to offer superior bottom definition, with structure and fish location over the widest possible area and will operate to depths up to 365m (1200 feet). Plus, new TrueArch and Selective Fish ID+ technologies provide the angler improved fish identification to suit every style of fishing. The Real Time Sonar window gives instant access to the conditions directly under the boat.

Additional easy to use features found on Matrix units include: X-Press Menus, which place the most frequent used controls at the fingertips; Angler Profile Presets, which offer access to advanced capabilities or normal capabilities to fit the user’s needs; and a large digital readout view, making it easy to view all of the features on the display in an enhanced mode. The Humminbird Quick Disconnect Mounting System is used on all new Matrix Fishing Systems.
