The National Federation of Anglers ‘Coaches Angling Roadshow’ began on 28th July at the Country Landowners Association Game Fair, Blenheim Palace, Oxford. Over the next 35 days it will have 28 stops and travel from Cardiff to Norwich and Sunderland to London.

One of the leading sponsors is the Environment Agency. Dr David Clarke, the EA Fisheries Manager, said, ‘The Agency applauds this initiative, which aims to coach some 5,600 new anglers during the course of the roadshow. Introducing new recruits into angling is vital to safeguard the future of the sport.

‘For our part we want to ensure new angling recruits become aware of their environmental responsibilities whilst fishing in waters throughout England and Wales. We wholeheartedly support well-organised angling events that combine the day-to-day recreational use and management of these waters.’

The Environment Agency has met a third of the roadshow’s costs – a contribution of £ 10,000. In addition, the Agency is providing temporary (block) licences for the events and has waived the duty on these.
