Following a couple of tough weeks a stunning 38lb 14oz mirror topped catches on Temple Lake at Old Bury Hill as sport picked up on the fishery. Caught by Temple regular Gez Schifano the big mirror known as ‘Robin Hood’ is at a record weight – having last been caught in 2010 at a weight of 35lb.
Fishing swim 14 Gez fished a single 15mm Mainline Grange boilie to the island margins in front of swim 13 which he combined with a PVA mesh bag filled with crushed baits. After putting out a few freebies Gez left the area unfished and undisturbed until he saw fish moving over the area when a cast brought a very quick pick up. Gez’s fish brings the total number of Temple thirties caught so far in 2011 to 68.
Other recent notable catches from the Surrey fishery have included a well deserved 32lb 4oz common from the Old Lake which set a new PB for Stephen Spear.
Stephen fished a 36-hour session on peg 12 and netted a couple of doubles before landing the big common. Fishing 15mm Sticky Baits Bloodworm Boilies Stephen presented his baits 60m out into open water over a bed of spodded chilli hemp and particle mix.
