Eels caught in illegal French trade endure epic journeys to China
Hundreds of millions of young eels carried about 3,500 miles every year on Atlantic currents to Europe then flown 5,400 miles further on to China, are at the heart of an illegal and growing French export trade, an eminent British eel expert said today (November 10).
Sleeping on the Job
For me, it simply goes against every instinct, every principle and every reason for night fishing to set two or three traps then to purposefully turn-in for the night. The very act of leaving your precious rods unattended outside the zipped-up bivvy while you slip into oblivion and deliberately miss what the dark hours have to offer is, to me, an admission of disinterest...a statement of indifference to the night's natural drama and one of the main reasons for being a fisherman.
